Common sense in a gym with no front desk

There is no reception and no staff watching. The gym works because the people in it treat it like their own.

Echipa SERGYM

There is no front desk at SERGYM. You open the door from the app, you train, you leave. Sometimes you have the whole gym to yourself, especially late at night or before six in the morning. This model is what lets us keep the gym open around the clock at a decent price, but it depends on one thing: how the people who walk in behave.

In all these years we have had surprisingly few problems. Not because there are cameras everywhere (there are, but that is not the point), but because every new member picks up the habits they see around them. Which is exactly why we prefer to state the rules plainly instead of assuming they go without saying.

House rules

  • Put the weights back when you are done, even if you found them lying around. The next person should not have to tour the gym looking for the 10 kg plates.
  • Wipe down the bench and the machines after yourself. The towel is not optional.
  • If someone is waiting for the same station, offer to alternate sets. Rest periods are long enough anyway.
  • Filming your lifts is a useful habit. Just make sure nobody ends up in your frame who did not ask to be there.
  • At night, make sure the door has closed behind you. Access runs through the app precisely so it is known who is inside.

About music: if you are alone, play whatever you like on the speakers. If anyone else is in, headphones are the polite option.

One more unwritten rule: if you notice something broken or worn, a frayed cable, a missing collar, write to us. We are not there to see it, and a thing fixed early is a thing fixed cheaply.

Nothing on this list takes effort. It just asks you to treat the place as partly yours. As long as everyone does, the gym stays the kind of space you want to come back to, at any hour.

See you at the gym.
